Claustral is a map with a size limit. All the gameplay happens in a 1024 x 1024 square (although some map detail extends beyond this limit). This map was made when the 1024 limitation was becoming a popular gimick for community projects and contests, but I never entered it in any. I had actually deleted this wad and forgotten about it completely, but a friend of mine who play-tested it over a year ago actually hung onto it over all this time! Now I'm somewhat less critical of my work, have have decided to release it to the Doom world!

This is a dinky little map made within a 4 hour time limit. The exact creation time is probably closer to 3 and a half hours. Its a standard brown-brick and metal themed level, nothing special.

 

Bay of Flames

This is a single map, and a very short one at that. This was mostly an experiment and learning experience for me, using ZDoom’s ACS scripts to affect game play in interesting ways. My biggest complaint received on this was the length. Sure, it’s a decent and engaging level, but its over so fast it’s hardly worth the time to play it. I also made some rather odd decisions while making this. For example, the player finds a red key near the end of the map, but there is no use for it. I think at the time my idea was giving the player a key will signal them that it is time to move on. Fail. It’s a concept level, so if you download it try and respect it in that regard.



Fear Reconstructed

This is a compilation that was created for a short lived and ultimately axed community megawad. The levels are quite separate from one another but overall the maps are of high quality. It is less difficult than my first release and shouldn’t present too much of a challenge for a seasoned Doomer, however it isn’t exactly a care-free romp. The second map especially was a great benchmark of growth for me and my mapping abilities.


 

Fear Construct

This is a mini-episode for Legacy that spreads over a motley combination of brown-brick gothic, tech, and hellish texture themes. Despite the incongruity of the levels, the overall feel of doom-ness is there. All three maps are possible to complete from pistol starts, but it certainly isn't easy. I suggest you save your game at the beginning of each level as it will be hard to recover if you're left with just a pistol. While the detail is a bit lacking in some spots and illogical in others, I am proud at how well I was able to execute some of my ideas here.

 

Miscellaneous
day_night2 - This wad, made my a one "Shtbag667," shows how to use ACS to create a day/night rotation effect. We were considering this for a possible Doom-based rpg, and hopefully will revisit the project. For ZDoom ports only.

rpg_test - This wad is a test of using ZDoom's decorate lump and strife dialogue to create an rpg. Perhaps I will expand on the idea when the inspiration and motivation comes. for ZDoom ports only.

dukewater - This is a demonstration wad, nothing special, but it can be used to create the effect of having the player move under a pontoon bridge or the like. for ZDoom ports only.
